My name is Most Denzel Matiki. I was part of the 2022 IGCSE graduating class at Emerald Academy. I transferred to Emerald Academy in form 2 in 2020 as a full-time student.

After the COVID-19 Lockdown l felt a bit behind my studies and my parents felt it best fit for me to hv attentive teachers who are mainly focused on the student's overall performance one on one and Emerald Academy best fit that narrative.

At Emerald Academy they help build the academic confidence l had lost in myself. They helped build a second home for me where l felt confident to confide in my teachers and not feel judged. They allowed me to make mistakes to grow. By the end of 2020 when l was in form 2 Mr Muzila did the most remarkable thing for me. He gave me the chance to skip a grade. He gave me the confidence to write a form 3 exam and be given a chance to go ahead to form 4. I passed with flying colours so in 2021 l began the year in form 4.

At Emerald Academy it's more than a school but a home for the students to be themselves and help them grow socially, learn how to interact with each other in a safe space. I remember one time when we visited an Orphanage, one of the most wholesome memories. The teachers encouraged us to donate clothes, toiletries, blankets and other few necessities. No student was left behind, from the Grade 1 students to the then form 5 class. We engaged in some interactive activities at the orphanage.

In my final IGCSE finals l managed to attain 43 points. As a student who had been impacted by the global lockdown to skipping a grade and not writing with my peers this was quite a good result for me. A special thanks to Mr and Mrs Muzila for the confidence they had in us. They kept our educational journey at heart making sure we proceed further in life.

For the students at Emerald Academy l encourage you to study and listen to your teachers because at Emerald Academy they have ur best interests at heart. They don't let their outside experience alter how they teach and treat anyone of their students. Emerald Academy is a safe space so please make the most of it.

Scoring 43 points was a dream come true for me.
